Family Forficulidae
Forficulidae have the second tarsal segment produced below and widened laterally. This family is represented in Tasmania by two species of Forficula. These are winged, with abdomen widened in the middle, and with pincer-like forceps. The adult males have the forceps dilated basally, internally crenulated or toothed, and are often strongly curved. In the females they are simple, more contiguous, and usually less curved.
