Chauliognathus tricolor

Chauliognathus tricolor.   This species is highly variable showing great range in size (beginning around 6mm up to 16mm), colour of elytra (though always entirely dark), and the markings on the pronotum.

C. tricolor males often have noticeably wide heads, being as wide as their pronotum. Though, this does not occur in some.
