Creophilus lanio (Devil’s coach-horse) – similar to C. erythrocephalus but differs by the middle spot on the head being larger, less circular (ie more transverse than long), and the margins not sharply defined. Also the elytra are blue-black for C. erythrocephalus but instead black with at most a purplish reflection in C. lanio.
