Genus This

This canus – has thorax moderately sized (ie not noticeably wider than head), only one pair of dorsocentrals present (prescutellar pair), scutellum subtriangular, the frons does not noticeably extend forward beyond eyes, and face normal in profile (ie not receding as seen in Rhis whitleyi). For Tasmania, Rhis propeae agrees with these characters except in that species the mesonotum has the ground hairs arranged medially into definite longitudinal lines, but these are entirely lacking in T. canus. Further, in profile T. canus has the antennae inserted distinctly below mid eye level.
