Trigonospila cf. cingulata – in this species the front thoracic pale band continues discretely around the thorax – thus on the sides of the thorax (pleural region) this band is not confused by any additional pale pruinescence on the sides next to it. The abdomen is black with pale discrete bands, the sides of the abdomen not largely pale brown. This also occurs in T. braueri and T. fasciata. Macquart described T. cingulata in 1851, being the first described Australian species, and typically his description was brief. Subsequent early workers may have confused this species and thus for a lack of a modern revision on Australian Trigonospila species we prefer to group those conforming to T. cingulata in a loose sense.
