Genus Sympycnus

Sympycnus are not fully resolved, but here it loosely contains Sympycninae with antennae arista placed dorsally, the face generally parallel-sided or only gradually narrowing below, the mesonotum with usually 6 (sometimes 5) pairs of strong dorsocentral bristle pairs and the acrostichal bristles lacking or in single series, hind leg tarsomeres 1 and 2 not very short and modified, and wings with veins R4+5 and M1 parallel.
