Genus Hilarempis

Empidid flies from tribe Hilarini of unremarkable habitus (see Bandella and Thinempis for those with distinctive habitus), wing vein R4+5 branched, and wing vein Sc fading apically and not reaching the costa are placed here. For Hilara-Hilarempis wing comparison click here – note also the late thickening of vein R1 as it reaches the costa in both wing examples which is typical of Hilarini but not Empidini.
