Pelecorhynchus eristaloides has bold spots on the wings, a brownish-grey thorax with two near entire longitudinal wide blackish stripes, each stripe enclosing a diamond-shaped white spot on the scutal suture, and the abdomen with three pale bands that are interruped medially. The species shares with <href=”https://tasmanianinsectfieldguide.com/pelecorhynchus-igniculus”>P. igniculus fiery red hairing at the abdominal sutures and sides, but differs in the colour and markings of the thorax and the presence of distinctive pale banding on the abdomen. Bodylength around 15 to 20mm.
