Australosymmerus (Crionisca) aculeatus

Australosymmerus (Crionisca) aculeatus

Mating pair
Late September 2015
Mount Wellington
The male is brown and yellow, while the female is largely black. The sexual dimorphism is so dramatic that when reviewing the Australian Ditomyiinae Colless (1970) had some doubt the sexes where actually associated.
