This genus has rather unique reduced wing venation, see Skuse (1888, plate 32, fig. 13, as Aphelomera), which does appear similar to Cecidomyiidae but can be removed from that family by the tibial spurs. Tonnoir (1929) mentions two undescribed species from Tasmania.
