We believe this fly belongs in Cricotopus but the arrangement of the pale colouring on the thorax and the presence of a single large pale band on the abdomen (covering entirely segment 1 and the base of segment 2) don’t match described species.
General features from specimen: eyes finely pubescent; wing membrane without macrotrichia; squama with strong setae on fringe; postpronotum with median ridge; dorsal eyebridge absent; dorsocentral line represented by tiny semi-decumbant yellowish bristles arranged loosely; and acrostichals yellowish, small, decumbant, and loosely arranged in a single line.
