Tonnoirella is a Tasmanian endemic genus represented by the single species T. gemella, with two distinctive subspecies described, T. gemella ssp. gemella and T. gemella ssp. marmoripennis. Subspecies gemella has yellowish wings with sparse dark pattern and legs largely dark. Subspecies marmoripennis has wings whitish with extensive brownish patterning with rings and obligue bands, the legs can be either largely dark or fulvous.
