Sensoriaphis tasmaniae (alate). Tasmanian endemic species.
Late December 2012
Strathgordon
On Nothofagus cunninghamii (Myrtle). Thanks to Tamsin Singleton for her outstanding aphid hunting skills.
“It is very patchy in space and time and alates (winged) individuals are always a treat to find. The genus (as the name suggests) extends into SE Asia. In other parts of its range the genus is parasitised by small braconid wasps of the subfamily Aphidiinae, including Paraephedrus relictus associated with Taiwanaphis on Nothofagus.”
Identification and information thanks to Peter McQuillan.
