Family Thaumastocoridae

The Thaumastocorids are a group of plant feeding bugs.  They are distributed across Australia, India, South America and the Carribean area.  Hill (1988) reported that there were only 15 species known in the family.  Australian species have been recorded feeding on Banksia, Eucalyptus, Acacia, Elaeocarpus and Melaleuca. Baclozygum depressum is the only known Tasmanian species.
