Hyleoides concinna (Wasp Mimicking Bee)

Wasp Mimicking Bee. Hyleoides concinna
Mid December 2010
Seven Mile Beach
Identification thanks to Bernhard Jacobi

The bees utilise bore holes to make their brood cells.  They spin a curtain that is free in the centre, and push through it to enter and exit.  This hole was formed by a longicorn beetle.
