Acanthostethus basalis

Acanthostethus basalis is the single known Tasmanian nyssonine. The densely punctate, short-haired, body and the antennae gradually inflating to their apices easily distinguishes the species from other Tasmanian crabronids. Acanthostethus are presumed to parasitise Sericophorus spp. (Crabronidae).
