Subfamily Campopleginae

Campopleginae includes some moderately sized but also many small to medium sized ichneumons with a similar look. They are slender, with the body usually matt textured, and faces without yellow marks. The ovipositor can be short, barely projecting, to long and sometimes up-curved. The fore-wing pterostigma is not broad, and the areolet can be absent or, for Tasmanian species, when present usually 4-sided and petiolate above. Generally they have dark to black unpolished bodies with legs variously coloured lighter. All Tasmanian species host records are as internal parasites of lepidoptera.

Comprised of 15 Australian genera.
